We have a wonderful follow-up to the story about Maureen Coffin and her son David’s foster work with Big Fluffy Dog Rescue. The Coffins had three foster pups living with them at the time their story was featured in our February edition of Neighorhood Living
Two of the dogs were puppies and one was a five-year-old and all are a Great Pyrenees mix. Sadie, the 5-year-old, is still in residence, but both puppies have gone to their forever homes. The female pup is now living the beach life in sunny Florida, and Chogan, the male pup will grow up in beautiful……DEVONWOOD!!! There were hundreds of applications for this fluffy boy, from all over the country. But the adoption coordinator listened to Maureen and David’s request, that he be placed locally and that the Williamson family was absolutely perfect. Their wish was granted, and now they will see first hand, the fruits of their labor. That big, fabulous, sweet, cuddle bug will get regular walks and belly rubs from his family as well as Maureen and David Coffin.
The Williamsons had been casually looking for a dog for six months but Blair and Erin were having trouble agreeing on what would be the perfect fit for their family. Blair was focused on another rescue; Erin, on a non-shedding dog. However, what both did agree on was the size- their next dog would be medium- sized. As fate had it, Erin saw a post on Facebook late February about Maureen’s foster pup family. When Erin asked Blair whether she should go take a visit, he was secretly thrilled. So, the following day, Erin took all the kids to “pet the puppies.” They were met by a friendly, soft, white fluff ball named Chogan. He immediately won them all over with his gentle and calm demeanor. That night, Erin and Blair discussed adding Chogan to the family with one reservation- he was certainly not going to be a medium- sized dog!
The Williamsons were one of many families who applied to be Chogan’s adopter and were so excited to find it ultimately came down to them and a family in Montana. Erin had a phone interview with Big Fluffy Dog Rescue and by the end of the conversation was told to “get the house ready for a new dog!”
Chogan slipped into the Williamson household seamlessly; it’s hard to remember a time when he wasn’t there. Although he is a still a puppy, he hardly acts it. He remains the gentle giant everyone knows him as, and his favorite things are belly rubs and car rides. He’s still growing daily and was a whopping 60 pounds already at his 19-week vet check! Dylan (6), Julia (5), and Kiernan (3) love helping to take care of Chogan, feeding him and taking him outside as much as they can! Chogan loves being with them too.
And he especially loves the baby, Nolan (1) who feeds him scraps of food off his high chair.
